Trafficking in persons continues to evolve with the times. This has elicited the good faith and intensified efforts of NAPTIP in fighting against it. This is evidenced by significant advances in understanding the challenges of the menace, developing strategies for identifying and counteracting it, developing good investigation and prosecution practices, carrying out public enlightenment campaigns against the ills of human trafficking, as well as counselling and rehabilitating victims and survivors of human trafficking.
The Agency has demonstrated firm commitment and unrelenting enthusiasm in fighting human trafficking by the re-enactment of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, on 26th March, 2015.
One of the immediate outcomes of the re-enactment was the identification of forward-looking and comprehensive capacity building as a sine qua non for combating trafficking in persons.
In order to develop a Training Framework to cater for the training needs of its personnel and stakeholders, the Agency inaugurated a Taskforce on the standardization of the Agency’s Training Policy, Curriculum, Manual and Trainers’ Guide.
This Trainers’ Guide is a lucid, up-to-date reference material designed to present in a systematic and user-friendly way, information that will be immensely helpful to trainers and eventually trainees in a variety of ways. It also adopts the generic model of a trainers’s guide, which is specific, straightforward, concise and easy to use by all.
The
Trainer plays a significant role in facilitating the learning process, in order
to make training meaningful and relevant to the trainee. It is important to
note that training is nothing but organized learning for a well-defined purpose
and the trainer is key to effective learning.
A cursory look at the chapters in this Trainers’ Guide shows that it is an exposé to provide trainers with requisite skills, competencies, and resources necessary to deliver quality training to trainees.
The
Trainers’ Guide also addresses other training needs of the Agency, bearing in
mind the multi-faceted nature of the Agency’s mandate.
This document presents its contents in simplified language, easily-understood chapters, and thought-provoking visuals. It contains a wealth of insight into professional training and the conduct and skills of a trainer, and provides source materials for trainers, trainees, law enforcement training institutions, and the general public.
This
document is divided into eight chapters for ease of presentation and they are

It
is the expectation of the Agency that the adoption of this Trainers’ Guide will
provide trainers with a standard document to deliver quality training to the
Agency’s personnel and its stakeholders.
The
objectives of the Trainers’ Guide are as follows:
i.
To provide trainers with
systematic and detailed information required to conduct a successful training
programme on behalf of the Agency;
ii. To equip trainers to
facilitate and deliver quality trainings as appropriate by acquainting them
with the requisite skills, competencies and resources;
iii.
To provide
standardized training to officers in the practical application of learned
information;
iv.
To serve as a
reference document for the evaluation of the trainers and the training
