The redevelopment was financed by a $455 million loan from New York State, approved in 2023. State officials have projected the project will generate $155 million in annual economic activity once fully operational, along with around $10 million annually in state and local tax revenue.
The redesigned complex features four distinct racing surfaces: a 1½-mile dirt track, two turf courses, and a one-mile Tapeta synthetic track.
The Tapeta surface will be used exclusively for winter racing, allowing Belmont to take over Aqueduct’s former winter schedule as NYRA consolidates its operations at Belmont and Saratoga.

What matters here isn’t the theme. It’s what the release says about where NetEnt is heading with its product line. Demon Beats is built around the studio’s Avalanche cascade system, the same core engine behind some of NetEnt’s most recognizable titles.
At its heart, Demon Beats uses the familiar Avalanche mechanic, where winning symbols clear and get replaced by new ones until no further wins appear. That cascade ties into a climbing multiplier ladder; the ladder resets on empty spins and steps up to far higher values once free spins begin.
The more distinctive layer is the game’s use of 2×2 colossal symbols and a Battle feature, in which colossal and Wild symbols land to cover a Battle symbol after a non-winning spin. In a press release on Friday, Ladbrokes and Coral owner Entain urged the government to “close the loophole without delay” in response to a Department for Culture, Media and Sport consultation on the matter.
The second consultation, which ran from 15 July to 9 September, followed an initial review in February.
But Entain warned the current timeline, which would enforce the ban by August 2027, was not timely enough, allowing unlicensed operators to sponsor Premier League clubs for another full season.
